Ramie, which is also known as china grass, grass line, and grasscloth is a textile made from natural fibers. Ramie is known to be one of the strongest natural fibers which exhibit even greater strength when it is wet. Ramie fiber is better known to add silk-like shine to the appearance of the textile, reduce wrinkling, and ability to hold shape. Ramie by itself is not a durable fiber and hence it is therefore often blended with other fiber such as cotton or wool. Ramie is however similar to linen in terms of absorbency, microscopic appearance, and density. Exclusive quality ramie fabric can be procured directly by the suppliers through textile infomedia in Mumbai.
Originating from China, ramie fabric is close to linen and is made from nettles which are classified as cellulose fiber, similar to cotton, linen, and rayon. The preferred way to wash ramie fabric is through hand washing or machine washing in cold or warm water to prevent it from shrinking. Once knitted, ramie needs to be hand washed and dried flat. Ramie fabrics that are woven can be line dried or tumbler dried on low to medium heat. Chlorine bleach should not be used on ramie as it can make the ramie fibers weak. You can get exquisite ramie fabric directly from the suppliers in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India through textile infomedia.
