A Churidar pant is a bottom worn mostly over a kameez or tunic top with slits by women and girls. It is so named due to the tight fitting of the pant that goes way longer than actual leg length. As a result, the pant folds into multiple rings. These rings look like bangles on a hand and thus the name Churidar because 'churi' in Hindi is bangle. It is a pant endemic to India. But it is believed to have been inspired from the Persians who wore it with Anarkali dresses. The Churidar suit was very common in wear during the 1980s and 1990s in India. It is stylish and sleek that was the formal counterpart of traditional dress. Girls especially wore them to colleges and as regular wears before they got married and switched to saree. Churidars are also embroidered. Sometimes they have the same design and pattern as the kameez or kurti. They can also be printed. Churidar suits come in perfect sets consisting of 3 items- the Churidar pant, the kameez and the dupatta. These Churidar suits are sold by many wholesale shopkeepers across in Bangalore, Karnataka whose addresses one can find at Textile Infomedia.
